The current status
OpenAI’s help page states that Sora’s web and app experiences ended on 26 April 2026 and that the API will be discontinued on 24 September 2026. This article is therefore a transition guide, not a recommendation to start a new Sora production workflow.
Recover the assets
Follow the official export process linked in the help article and download the resulting files when available. Check that the export opens and contains the material you need. Keep project descriptions, prompts and edit notes alongside finished clips so the creative intent is not lost.
