Write the art direction
Define the palette, level of detail, composition and rendering character. For an illustrative article series, decide whether scenes are flat editorial drawings, photographic concepts or another coherent approach. Keep those choices stable across the collection.
Vary the story
Give each cover a different contextual idea tied to its article. A search story might use an investigation scene; a collaboration story might show coordinated work. Repeating the same robot with different backgrounds creates consistency without much meaning.
Curate as a set
Review the images together at thumbnail size. Check focal points, colour balance and whether each article remains distinguishable. Remove details that become visual noise when reduced. Use current product controls and terms rather than assuming an older prompt recipe still applies. The purpose of a shared direction is to make the publication recognisable while preserving the individuality of each story. Consistency should support editorial variety, not flatten it.
